17th ETRANSPORT

Etransport – Congress on Passenger Transport, today regarded as the largest transport event of Latin America, started as a small get-together among entrepreneurs of the bus sector in Rio de Janeiro State, in 1989.

Since its beginning, the Congress debates issues related to professional improvement of the road category and to the environment, such as the need for investment in HR areas and the adoption of fuels like VNG and biodiesel. Awards were launched during the Congress, such as Alberto Moreira, directed to road transport professionals, and Daniel Barata, which has been extinct, but used to be addressed to transport companies. The Urban Mobility Award, that includes five categories (Journalism, divided into the subcategories of Printed Media and Electronic Media; Education and Culture; Sustainable Development; Transport Planning and Technology; and Customer Relationship), also had its first edition during this Congress.

In addition to the lectures given by national and international personalities of great importance, the evolution of Etransport opened space for side events, organised both by Fetranspor and by other entities related to urban mobility.

If the first edition consisted on a small meeting, the second gathered about 700 participants, and today the number reaches 10,000. During the 7th Etransport, it was launched FetransRio – Rio Transport Trade Fair –, currently the exhibition stage of the most modern and important products and services for public transport.
